Australian Music Week is the only national celebration of new Australian contemporary music. It aims to profile the best in emerging and established Australian contemporary music talent, mainly helping to provide opportunities for new artists to be heard. The Australian Music Foundation, which now co-ordinates Australian Music Week, is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion, expansion and development of Australian music. Australian Music Week (AMW) now in it's tenth year will run from Monday 4th October to Sunday 10th October 1999. This earlier date, compared to previous years, will allow Australian Music Week to combine with other major Australian music events including:
