24th June 2006 Shout Out Louds playlist
Indie-Pop band, Shout Out Louds are five old friends from Stockholm, Sweden. They head to Melbourne for the first time to deliver their high-energy, ultra melodic pop songs, over two shows with Perth band The Panics. At the heart of the music of Shout Out Louds is honesty and simplicity, not in a musical sense, necessarily, but in the personal sense of cutting directly an emotional core. Shout Out Louds singer and guitarist Adam Olenius describes the music of his band, as a "desperate shout." It's a surge of romance and urgency, happy and sad, upbeat and lingering, danceable and reflective, and fuelled throughout with gut-level emotion. Formed in 2001 over a love of the same records, Adam Olenius (vocal, guitars), Ted Malmros (Bass), Carl von Arbin (Guitar), Eric Edman (drums) and Bebban Stenborg (keyboard) recorded a three track demo that quickly caught the attention of Sweden. They signed to Swedish label Bud Fox Recordings, and produced a steady stream of mostly Scandinavian releases, beginning with 100°, a four-song EP released in early 2003. This culminated in their debut full-length, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, featuring radio favourites The Comeback, Please Please Please & Very Loud, a release that garnered the band a well deserved international fan base. Having recently toured the UK with The Strokes, The Magic Numbers and The Concretes, and the US with The Dears, Shout Out Louds team up with Perth band The Panics for their first Australian tour.
